CNC Programming & Operations
Without question the best bang for the buck when it comes to training you or your employees is to register them for one of our two state-approved manufacturing programs.
This program is approved by the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools. All students are evaluated 4 times on paper. This includes a mid-term and final. Shop evaluations include a check-off list of 40 competencies, the successful performance of a complete mill and lathe setup in 90 minutes each, and the manufacturing of a minimum of two parts as described below.
The 272-hour, 17-week CNC Programming and Operations program is very comprehensive. Your employee will learn to:
- Read and interpret blueprints, perform basic shop math, create a CAD rendition of a part of moderate complexity, properly dimension the part.
- Create a process sheet or order of operation to make the part.
- Write and edit a CNC program from a print of moderate complexity and process sheet data using a combination of CAD based download and “at machine” edits. (Fanuc format)
- Identify and install tooling for the job. Qualify same.
- Perform all offsets, touchoffs, indicate vise, edge find. Enter appropriate data prior to dry run.
- Utilize all basic inspection equipment including comparator.
- Dry run.
- Make the part. (Students are required to produce one milling and one turning part at minimum and document the job properly, including in-process inspection.)
